I was listening to Echo Moscow radio today, and Mikhael Gorbachev was providing a cogent justification for Communism, explaining that its ultimate goal was democratic socialism along lines laid down by Lenin, but, unfortunately sidetracked by Josef Stalin's -- in Lenin's own words --"brutishness". He was also complaining of the effects of Ronald Reagan's hostile policies not only on Russia, but on the world as a whole.
Ronald Reagan was obviously suffering from Alzheimer's dementia early on within his Presidential mandate, leaving national and foreign policies to be pursued and developed largely by his gold-digging slut of a wife, Nancy. Naturally, a simplistic, greed-oriented package, focusing on the destruction of all social justice world-wide, at all cost, was pursued. This included the systematic undermining of Mr. Gorbachev's efforts at steering the Soviet Union towards more democratic openness, including the Soviet Union's efforts at achieving some level of stability in the ever-unruly Afghanistan. The Nazis at the CIA were given carte blanche to foster, nurture and develop the most depraved elements in the Islamic world, and to provide them with unlimited resources and training, in an effort to undermine the constructive efforts of Mr. Gorbachev.
The same CIA that arranged Iran-Contra, the same CIA which gave vicious dictator Saddam Hussein near super-power status in order to attempt to crush the fledgling Iranian democracy -- whose only "crime" had been that totally harmless, frat-house prank known as "the Iranian Hostage Crisis", in which no one got a scratch -- that same CIA created Al-Qaeda to fight the Soviets in their heroic efforts to stabilize Afghanistan.
Can we really be surprised that the monster Al-Qaeda trained and created by the CIA would come back to haunt its master? Hardly. Give credit where credit is do -- to Ronald Reagon. Or, was it all really Nancy?
