The shootings in Minneapolis and the deployment of the Minnesota NG against ICE have destabilized the Trump regime
The obvious brutality and incompetence of ICE agents is becoming a major problem for the Trump administration, leading to intense finger-pointing and blame placing within the administration itself, making a partial government shutdown almost inevitable, hardening the opposition of Democrats and progressives, and leading to a general impression of the incompetence of the Trump regime as a whole. While not exactly a civil war situation, the situation is highly volatile and unstable.
On the plus side, the US economy remains solid. Growth is predicted to have been 2.4% in 2025, and to be close to 3% in 2026. However, job growth remains slow, meaning that this solid growth rate is exclusively benefitting the rich. As a result, the vast majority of the US population remains shut out of any prosperity, and is becoming increasinly volatile and angry about it.
Extreme disparities of wealth always lead to social instabiliy, which is exaclty what we are seeing at this time. The rich are happy, the poor, and what's left of the middle class, are very unhappy, and this can lead to escalating violent confrontations, as we are currently seeing throughout the US.
It appears from the polls and the prediction markets that the Democrats will retake the House this year, and possibly the Senate. Will this help the situation at all? This is unclear. The Democxrats are slightly more sympathetic to the poor and middle class than the Republicans, but, the members of the federal congress, whether Republicans or Democrats, are all very wealthy men and women themselves, and they are all quite beholden to the rich, to maintian their own wealth.
