The Geek's Raven
[An excerpt, with thanks to Marcus Bales]

Once upon a midnight dreary,
fingers cramped and vision bleary,
System manuals piled high and wasted paper on the floor,
Longing for the warmth of bedsheets,
Still I sat there, doing spreadsheets:
Having reached the bottom line,
I took a floppy from the drawer.
Typing with a steady hand, I then invoked the SAVE command
But got instead a reprimand: it read "Abort, Retry, Ignore".

Governor Tim Walz has effectively staged a military coup against Donald Trump

One aspect of the situtation in Minnesota that has not been much discussed in the media is the simple fact that governor Tim Walz has deployed elements of the 13,000 strong Minnesota National Guard against ICE in Minnepolis, and that these military forces are now effectively defending the protesters against ICE, so that ICE can no longer murder Minnesotans. We can debate the extent to which these protesters are violent or peaceful, but, clearly, the Minnesota National Guard is there to defend them, not ICE. This is highly signficant, because, it is unprecedented for the military to actually be actively defending citizens against federal law enforcement. In principle, Federal law trumps state law, in all cases. However, this issue is becoming very blurry and problematical in Minnesota at this time, with high profile cases of ICE agents murdering Minnesotans without cause. It seems very likely that the NG would legally have the right to interfere with cases of excessive force being applied, as is the situation rather frequently in Minnesota at the moment, on the grounds of ensuring public safety, and Donald Trump knows it. Now, in pricnciple, Donald Trump does have the right to federalize NG's in cases in which the troops are being used to oppose federal agents enforcing the law. However, Trump has abused this privilege to such an extent so far, crying wolf over and over again, that the courts have made it clear that his power to federalize state NG's is extremely limited in future. If the Minnesota NG does intervene to stop assaults on Minnesotans by ICE agents, the courts might not permit Trump to federalize them, this time. In that case, Trump has largely lost control over the military, and everyone would know it. This is not something that Trump can afford to let happen. Hence, Tim Walz' deployment of the Minnesota NG under these circumstances is extremely dangerous for Trump, almost tantamount to a military mutiny, that could spread!
