Parallels between Donald Trump, and Don Quixote
Although Dolnald Trump is no great lover of Hispanics, is it possible, at this stage of his life anyway, Trump bears a close resemblance indeed to the greatest of all Spanish heroes in literature, Don Quixote himself?
Trump isn't totally insane, but, he's getting there, certainly, as was Don Quixote. Like Don Quixote, Donald Trump is from a privileged background, but, he's getting very old, and he's losing his wits, and is confusing his fantasies with reality, and his wishes with the will of God, to a somewhat disconcerting degree. Donald Trump also, very much like Don Quixote, is addicted to physical violence, and very much enjoys indulging in it, and encouraging others to be violent, at every possible opportunity. Donald Trump, again like Don Quixote, is rather creative and arbitrary in his uses of violence, abducting heads of state, murdering fishermen at sea, murdering innocent women for defying his authority, and claiming in all cases that these represent divine retribution for supposed wrongs against himself or, perhaps America itself.
Often, again like Don Quixote, Donald Trump rather inverts reality, seeing war as peace, pure destruction as "good business", and his own personal whims as the most important things in the universe. How does such a man attract followers? What does MAGA see in Donald Trump?
Well, what exactly did Sancho Panza see in Don Quixote? Bear in mind, Sancho Panza did quite well by his association with Don Quixote. All these violent confrontations gave Sancho Panza ample opportunity to profit quite well by stealing everything he could find while Don Quixote was engaged in insane and violent quarrels with almost everyone he ever encountered.
Similarly, Donald Trump's violence and disruptions are, no doubt, giving certain MAGA busnessmen opportunities they would certainly not have had without him.
