Why do the British have a mythology or “never surrendering” against the Nazis? It was they who declared war on Germany not the other way around.
That’s actually a rathe interesting question, and, that’s certainly the way Hitler and the Nazis saw it. They saw Churchill as a war-monger, and themselves as innocent victims of British Imperialism. The British position was that Hitler’s activities, while not a direct and immediate threat to the survival of Britain, because of the English channel, were a threat to the entire region, because Nazi expansionism could not be easily contained. So, whether they wanted to or not, the British felt compelled to get involved in this regional conflict. That’s what they mean by “never surrendering” — never permitting the Nazis to expand throughout Europe without Britain getting in their way about it.
