Genus Hamas Miles Gloriosus on verge of extinction
Environmentalists and Wildlife Protection Agencies around the world have expressed deep concern over a sudden, sharp dropoff in numbers of one of the world's most popular and colorful animal species, the Hamas Miles Gloriosus. Indeed, many have expressed the view that the entire species may be, quite suddenly, in danger of extinction. The Hamas Miles Gloriosus, a native of Persia, has, in recent years obtained great popularity worldwide as it has established itself in the Gaza Wildlife Sanctuary, under the protection of the government of Israel. The Hamas Miles Gloriosus is most notable for its colorful incendiary displays, its shrill cry "Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!", its stylish plumage and, most recently, its custom of impaling its prey in cruciform fashion, prior to consuming it. Tourists from around the world have recently taken to visiting the Gaza Wildlife Sanctuary to observe this wonderful species in its native habitat, to feed it, and to observe its interactions with the other less aggressive, native species there.
Environmentalists are pointing the finger at big game hunters and poachers from Israel itself to account for the Hamas Miles Gloriosus now being on the endangered species list. Apparently, as it has come to greater world attention, a great demand for the rich pelts of the Hamas Miles Gloriosus has arisen in Israel, amongst the wealthy elite. Wealthy Israeli women really feel naked these days without their Hamaskin gloves and boots, and no upper class Isreali home is complete without at least a pair of Hamaskin lampshades.
Wildlife Protection agencies in neighbouring nations have protested to the Isreali government regarding this terrible exploitation of the Hamas Miles Gloriosus, so far with little effect. The Israeli government appears to be turning a blind eye to the poachers, possibly because it represents a lucrative and popular trade, possibly because it might prefer slightly less agressive species to once more gain ground in the Gaza Wildlife Sanctuary.
